Puppy tossed from car on I-84 reunited with his family; police looking for thief
A puppy that was reportedly thrown from a moving vehicle on Interstate 84 on Tuesday has been reunited with his family, but police say they’re still looking for the person who allegedly stole the dog and tossed him from their car.
According to a news release from Idaho State Police, the 10-week-old Shih Tzu puppy was thrown from the window of a westbound car near Nampa around 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday. Another motorist saw the incident and stopped to help the puppy. The woman flagged down a passing Idaho State Police trooper. Despite witnessing the incident, police said she was unable to describe the vehicle the puppy was thrown from or its occupants.
The dog suffered some minor road rash on its face and paws but is expected to recover fully. Initially, the dog was taken to West Valley Humane Society, where he was treated for his injuries.
Police said Wednesday morning that they had found the dog’s rightful owner. The puppy was reported stolen from a Nampa home on Tuesday morning.
“Although it appears the little dog will be reunited with his family, investigators with both Idaho State Police and Nampa Police would still like to find out who took the puppy,” officials said.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS or leave a tip via the P3 Tips app or at www.343cops.com.
