Two Ada County residents charged after vehicle-to-vehicle shooting reported in Boise
Two Ada County residents are in jail after police say they were involved in a shooting that took place Thursday morning in Boise.
Donovan Titus Leavitt, 25, and Trison Neil Vangerpen, 18, were booked into the Ada County Jail on Thursday.
Leavitt, of Kuna, has been charged with single felony counts of aggravated assault and destruction of evidence. Vangerpen, of Meridian, is charged with two counts of aggravated battery, according to a news release from the Boise Police Department.
At around 5:30 a.m. Thursday, police were notified of a report of shots fired near W. Main Street and W. Garden Street, according to BPD, with shots being fired from one car at another vehicle. That car was struck gunfire but no one inside was injured.
Police said they later learned of an “earlier altercation” between the two groups in the cars that occurred near S. Capitol Boulevard and W. Myrtle Street. Because of an investigation into the earlier altercation, police said they were able to identify Leavitt as a suspect in the shooting.
Investigators also believed that another person was traveling with Leavitt, leading them to Vangerpen.
The investigation is ongoing, according to BPD.
