Police arrest, charge juvenile with assault after Nampa shooting early Sunday morning

Nampa police say a juvenile boy was arrested in connection with a shooting that took place early Sunday morning.

At around 1:41 a.m. Sunday, police were called to the scene of a shooting near a home in the 600 block of 16th Street North, according to a press release from the Nampa Police Department.

The gunshots hit a landscape wall, and no injuries were reported to police.

NPD said it later obtained a search warrant for a home on North Ethel Drive and arrested the juvenile. The news release did not state the boy’s name or age.

Investigators alleged that the shooting was “part of a string of incidents between rival gangs,” according to the news release. The matter is still under investigation.

The boy was taken to the Canyon County juvenile detention center. Police said he was charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police are encouraging anyone with information connected to the shooting to contact NPD detective Tim Onofrei at 208-475-5708.
