The Boise Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying three suspects in connection with the violence that occurred at Tuesday night’s Black Lives Matter rally in front of City Hall.

Police are reviewing multiple pieces of video footage from the protests, including those posted on social media, according to a press release sent by BPD. At this time, there are several investigations underway that could lead to charges, most of which are misdemeanors.

“BPD is also aware of videos on social media where the people involved have not reported the incidents to police,” the statement said. “For the best chance of a successful prosecution, we encourage anyone who believes they were a victim of a crime during Tuesday night’s protest to contact police and file a report.”

As part of the ongoing investigations, detectives are asking for assistance in identifying subjects from two specific incidents. Officers on scene began inquiries and interviews Tuesday, and detectives conducted follow-up interviews on Wednesday, according to the release.

The suspects are facing possible battery, fighting and disturbing the peace charges.

BPD noted that one of the charges includes Idaho State Code 18-903, which is mostly used when the attack on the victim was not the result of a mutual fight or altercation. Fighting and disturbing the peace charges are used when there is some element of mutual physical fighting, the release said.

Anyone with information about Tuesday’s incidents or the people being sought is asked to contact Boise police.

“Detectives are currently looking into reports involving people on both sides of the protests and charges are possible for criminal acts committed by individuals across the spectrum from all sides of the protest,” the press release said. “BPD Investigators are working to identify a number of individuals who may have knowledge of specific incidents occurring during Tuesday night’s event.”
