Idaho Humane Society investigates reports of person harming pets bought from Craigslist
The Idaho Humane Society said it is investigating reports that a person is stealing or acquiring pets in the Treasure Valley with the intent of harming them.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the shelter said it has “received reports that an individual is acquiring pets from animals left outside in yards as well as purchasing them off Craigslist to harm and maim them outside of the Treasure Valley.” Spokeswoman Kristine Schellhaas said screenshots from social media appear to indicate that the animals are from the Treasure Valley, although it’s not clear whether the screenshots have been altered.
Schellhaas said the Idaho Humane Society is working with police on the investigation. She encouraged residents to keep a close eye on pets and use extra caution if they find an animal a new home via social media.
Few other details were immediately available, though another Facebook post that was shared to multiple Treasure Valley pet groups alleged that individuals in the area were live-streaming abuse and killings of cats and dogs.
