Idaho suspect arrested on domestic abuse charge. Police allege he pointed gun at woman

Nampa Police arrested James Furrer early Thursday morning after a woman said he pointed a firearm at her during a fight.

At around 12:55 a.m., police responded to a home on Zion Park Drive in response to a domestic altercation. Furrer, 32, refused to speak with police, according to a news release from the Nampa Police Department.

Since it was unclear why Furrer wouldn’t communicate with officers, and because of the severity of the allegation, police said it was necessary for the tactical response team to respond. After repeated attempts to contact him, Furrer finally exited the residence and was taken into custody, according to the news release.

He was booked on suspicion of felony domestic battery, aggravated battery, aggravated assault and attempted strangulation.

If convicted, aggravated battery is punishable by up to 15 years in prison, aggravated assault is punishable by up to five, attempted strangulation is punishable by up to 15, and felony domestic battery is punishable by up to 10.

Furrer will appear in court Thursday afternoon.
