Idaho police arrest man who allegedly threatened them with explosives during traffic stop
Idaho State Police arrested an Arizona man on Saturday who they say threatened the police with explosives following a traffic stop.
Michael Rosequist’s vehicle was stopped at around 1 a.m. when ISP said he was speeding on eastbound Interstate 84 in Nampa.
“As the trooper spoke with the driver, the driver told the trooper explosives were present in his vehicle,” according to an ISP news release. “Concerned for the safety of the public, as well as for the driver and his passenger, troopers closed the eastbound lanes of the interstate and called for assistance.”
The Nampa and Caldwell police departments helped ISP in closing lanes, and officers trained in explosive detection responded.
It was ultimately determined that Rosequist did not have explosives in his vehicle, and he was booked into the Canyon County jail. He is accused of driving under the influence and possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He is also charged with the suspected use of weapons of mass destruction and resisting or obstructing police.
Rosequist’s next court date is May 26. His bond is set at $100,000.
