Boise Police arrest man accused of violating protection order, shooting gun near child

Boise Police officers arrested a 42-year-old man who is accused of violating a protection order and firing a gun near the person who sought the order and a child.

Juan Flores, of Garden City, was booked into Ada County Jail on suspicion of felony domestic battery, aggravated assault and felony injury to child.

Police were called to a home at around 2:20 a.m. Monday, near west Irving Lane and north Milwaukee Street, for a report of shots fired, according to a Boise Police Department news release. Flores was reportedly violating an active protection order by showing up at the residence and contacting the protected party. Officers said there was evidence of a domestic dispute.

“They also found evidence that the suspect fired a gun, nearly striking a child sleeping in the room,” according to the news release.

The child wasn’t injured, police said.
