Kuna man hit by train, taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

A Kuna man was taken to a local hospital Thursday night after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries when he was hit by a train.

Dispatchers received the call at around 8:40 p.m. and Kuna police said they arrived to find the injured 22-year-old man sitting on a bench in Discovery Creek Park.

The man was fishing with a friend off the trestle bridge at Indian Creek when a train arrived, according to Patrick Orr, spokesman for the Ada County Sheriff’s Office. The friend was able to get off the bridge and clear from the tracks in time, but the victim was not. He told police that the train “clipped” him as it passed, officials said.

The friend called police and helped the injured man to the park bench.

Although the trestle bridge is not open to the public, no citations have been issued yet in connection with the accident, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
