Boise man accused of following children from school, exposing himself pleads guilty

A Boise man on Monday pleaded guilty to allegations that he followed a child home from school and exposed himself to the child, according to an Ada County Prosecutor’s Office news release.

Steven Roach, 62, pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree stalking and sexual abuse of a child under the age of 16.

Roach was arrested in January. Police claimed he followed an elementary school student home from school and later found that Roach exposed himself in front of the child and masturbated. Roach admitted both charges.

He faces up to 25 years in prison for the sex abuse charge and five years in prison for the stalking charge. He is also required to register as a sex offender.

Roach’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. May 18.

Boise man convicted of sex crimes

An Ada County jury on Thursday convicted a 46-year-old Boisean of sex crimes against a minor, according to a news release from the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office.

Darin Ogden, who was arrested in September 2018, was found guilty of sexual battery with a minor aged 16 or 17 and causing or permitting a child to be used for sexually exploitative materials.

Ogden was originally charged with lewd conduct, sexual battery and production of sexually exploitative material.

The jury trial took four days, according to the news release. The sexual battery charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison, while the sexual exploitation charge carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.

Ogden will be sentenced at 1:30 p.m. May 19.
