Update: Suspect faces seven charges after allegedly hitting police officer with car

Lantz Reeves, 31, of Boise, is charged with three misdemeanors and four felonies — including grand theft, attempt to elude a police officer and malicious injury to property — after police say he attempted to flee in a stolen vehicle and struck an officer with that car.

The Boise Police Department said in a news release Monday that officers were attempting to arrest Reeves on a felony warrant near the area of State and Fargo streets when a chase ensued. The suspect fled and crashed his vehicle into a utility box, and then proceeded to steal an occupied car, police said. The bystander was able to get out of the vehicle as Reeves took it, and Reeves then drove into one of the officers on the scene, according to the release.

Other officers apprehended Reeves, who is now booked into the Ada County Jail, police said. The officer was treated and released from a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a second news release.

Police did not release the name of the officer.
