Update: Officers arrest 2nd suspect after Idaho 15-year-old shot in leg, police say

A 16-year-old male was arrested Friday in connection with a shooting in Nampa. He is facing four charges of aggravated assault, according to a news release, and has been transferred to the custody of the Canyon County Juvenile Detention Center in Caldwell.

Around 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Nampa police officers found a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his leg. A suspect had fled the scene, but was later arrested on drug charges, according to the Nampa Police Department.

Christopher W. Baker, 34, of Caldwell, faces a felony charge of manufacturing a controlled substance and misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, NPD posted on its Facebook page. He was booked into the Canyon County jail.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and Baker faces no shooting-related charges at this time, police said.

The Nampa Police Department said investigators were still questioning Baker, as well as “processing the scene and doing further interviews to continue piecing together the circumstances surrounding this event. At this point no other individuals are being sought by police.”

The teen who was shot was found in the 3300 block of East Park Ridge Drive, and Baker was detained shortly afterward in Caldwell, according to a news release.

The investigation remains ongoing.
