Semi driver flees crash that hospitalized two people, Idaho State Police say
A semitrailer driver is accused of causing a collision involving three vehicles on Wednesday evening near Nampa and then leaving the scene, according to Idaho State Police.
Police say the crash happened at around 7 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 84, near milepost 39. The crash involved three eastbound vehicles on I-84: A Toyota Corolla was struck by the semi while changing lanes, and the Corolla then hit a Honda Accord, causing the Corolla to spin into traffic, where it hit a Toyota Scion, according to ISP.
Michael B. Stephens, 55, of Clovis, California, was driving the 2014 Corolla; Iovko T. Margaritov, 32, of Boise, was driving the 2013 Accord; and Vickie L. Sandvik, 62, of Nampa, was driving the 2006 Scion. All drivers were wearing their seat belts, but Stephens and Sandvik were taken by ground ambulance to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Meridian, ISP said.
ISP is still trying to locate the driver of the semi. Anyone with information is asked to contact ISP at 208-846-7500.
