Suspect identified in Boise Police standoff that lasted until 1:30 a.m., caused evacuation
A suspect’s standoff with Boise police late Tuesday ended without major injury after several evacuations from an apartment complex along Fairview Avenue.
Police say they were attempting to serve a protection order to Sean S. Hurst, 34, of Boise, at apartments in the 8500 block of Fairview Avenue when the standoff began. Hurst had threatened the protected person with a knife, according to a Boise Police Department news release.
Hurst reportedly refused to talk to police Tuesday night. He was alone in the apartment at the time of the standoff.
At around 7 p.m., nearby apartments in the building were evacuated while officers attempted to get Hurst to come out peacefully, according to BPD. By 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, police had used a K-9 to detain the suspect.
Hurst received minor injuries from the dog and was taken to a hospital for treatment of a prior medical issue. He has been charged with felony aggravated assault and was transported from the hospital to the Ada County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
