One person dead after Gem County shooting on Thanksgiving, says sheriff’s office

The Gem County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Monday that one person is dead after a Thanksgiving Day shooting.

Chief Deputy Donnie Wunder said that on the morning of Nov. 28, emergency dispatch received a report of a “firearm discharge.” When deputies arrived, one person was dead, he said.

Wunder said the general public is not in danger. He did not name the deceased person, nor would he clarify whether it was believed to be a homicide or a suicide.

Wunder declined to say where in Gem County the shooting occurred.

He said the investigation is ongoing and declined to release any further information.

The Gem County Coroner’s Office declined on Monday to name the deceased person, or the person’s cause and manner of death.
