The former boy’s basketball coach for Greenleaf Friends Academy was arrested Sept. 21 on suspicion of attempting to have sex with a juvenile.

Trevor Douty, 28, was booked into the Canyon County jail on suspicion of attempted lewd conduct with a minor.

The investigation began after the Idaho’s Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit received a tip from police in Wilder.

Greenleaf Friends Academy is a private, Christian school for students ages pre-K to 12th grade. The school’s website states Douty teaches high school biology, chemistry, health and coaches several sports.

An email from the Idaho Statesman to Greenleaf Friends Academy Superintendent Rod Lowe asking for Douty’s employment status on Sunday was returned, but Lowe only said “I have no comment at this time.”

On Sunday, Douty’s biography was still on the school’s website, but his photo had been taken down.

Douty posted a $100,000 bond on Sept. 24 and was released from jail, according to online records. His next court appearance is set for 8:30 a.m. Friday.

In addition to the Wilder Police Department, the Canyon County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office also assisted the ICAC Unit in Douty’s investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the exploitation of children is encouraged to contact local police, the Attorney General’s ICAC Unit at 208-334-4527, or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678.
