Last Friday, an Idaho State Police trooper found nearly 10 pounds of methamphetamine in a vehicle after stopping the car for a vehicle infraction, according to an ISP press release.

Twenty-three-year-old Kevin A. Rivas-Cardenas, of Sinaloa, Mexico, was arrested and booked into Canyon County Jail, where he remained Monday evening. He’s charged with felony drug trafficking in methamphetamine, along with the following misdemeanor charges: possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use and providing false information to an officer. He currently has an immigration hold, according to the jail’s website. Bond was set at $1 million, court documents show.

ISP said Rivas-Cardenas was traveling westbound on Interstate 84 near Caldwell when a trooper stopped his 2013 Ford Fusion for an undisclosed vehicle infraction. The vehicle had Washington license plates. The trooper later found 9.8 pounds of meth “hidden within the vehicle,” ISP said.
