One man is dead after a fight for control of a gun at campsite on the Owyhee River, according to a Malheur County Sheriff's Office press release.
The incident happened at about midnight one mile north of the Snively Hot Springs. It was reported to police by a woman who said she was flagged down by the campers — two adults with three children who witnessed the struggle.
The man, who has not been identified by law enforcement, reportedly drove into the group's camp with a firearm. One of the campers and the unidentified man began to struggle over the possession of the firearm, and the unidentified man was struck and killed by a bullet from the firearm.
It's unclear whether the group knew the man.

Investigators from the Malheur County Major Crimes Team, which includes investigators from the county's law enforcement agencies as well as the Malheur County District Attorney's Office, are working on the case. The scene is being processed by the investigators and the Oregon State Police Crime Lab, and no other information will be released until their work is complete, according to the press release.
