Boise police use Taser on Middleton man who reportedly fought officers

Sean A. Russell faces two felony charges after reportedly fighting and kicking Boise Police Department officers Monday afternoon, according to a BPD press release.

Russell, 31, was charged with two counts of felony assault or battery upon personnel and three misdemeanors: resisting or obstructing officers, petit theft and failure to appear.

BPD officers responded to a report of a man acting erratic near the 4700 block of Eagle Road Monday at about 1:30 p.m. When officers found Russell, he had items that were allegedly stolen from a store. The officers tried to take him into custody, but he reportedly fought back and kicked at least one officer in the leg. One officer used a Taser and then Russell was taken into custody.

Russell is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 24, according to court records. He remains in the Ada County Jail.
