Meridian insurance agent loses license for misconduct

The state has revoked the licenses of Meaghan A. Ruether and her company, Rangewood Insurance LLC, for one year.

Idaho Department of Insurance officials say Ruether misrepresented or fabricated information on 25 insurance policies. The state investigated after a customer complained that Ruether had issued an auto policy without the customer’s knowledge or permission. The customer learned of the policy when the company notified her of its cancellation.

“The department has a responsibility to the citizens of Idaho to administer the insurance code,” Director Dean Cameron said Thursday in a news release. “In some cases, that responsibility means we have to revoke a license to protect the public.”

Ruether was ordered to pay a penalty of $4,000, of which $1,000 was suspended indefinitely, according to the order issued Monday, May 16.
