Driver checks text on phone, crashes into house in Kuna

A 24-year-old man told Kuna police he was checking a text message on his cell phone when he lost control of his truck and drove it into the side of a home Tuesday night, police said in a news release Wednesday.

Driver Corey West was not hurt in the crash, but police cited him for inattentive driving. No one inside the home in the 300 block of South Stroebel Road was hurt, but a wall of the home was damaged.

A resident of the home called police just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. When officers arrived, they found a red GMC Sierra pickup smashed into a wall of the home, police said.

The truck went off the side of the road, knocking over a fence and traveling about 150 feet before hitting the house, police said.
