Star council votes to bar multifamily development in commercial zones
The Star City Council voted 3 to 0 to approve the amendment, Mayor Nathan Mitchell said.
The vote came after a special poblic hearing Monday night. On Tuesday, Star residents go to the polls to choose a mayor and three council members. Opponents of an affordable housing complex proposed near downtown Star have threatened to vote against officials facing re-election unless they support the prohibition.
Boise-based VCD wants to develop a 2.7 acre parcel on West State Street just west of downtown into Moon Valley Apartments, a complex of seven buildings totaling 37 units.
