Coroner identifies 14-year-old boy who drowned at Boise-area park
The Ada County Coroner’s Office has identified the teenage boy who drowned at a pond in Star earlier this week.
In a news release Friday morning, the coroner’s office identified the boy as 14-year-old Jeffrey Shepp, of Nampa. His death was ruled an accidental drowning, according to the coroner’s office.
At about 3:30 p.m., Star police deputies received a report of a water rescue needed at the pond at Freedom Park, the Ada County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release on Wednesday.
The Boise Fire Department and the sheriff’s office also responded to the scene, where a male teenager was recovered, the release said.
Life-saving measures were attempted but were not successful, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday, and “no foul play is suspected.” The coroner’s office said more information will be available pending an investigation from the sheriff’s office.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” the sheriff’s office release said.
