The Village at Meridian is expanding. What’s coming — and how soon you can shop
Expansion is underway at The Village at Meridian shopping center after the developer nixed previous plans for apartments in favor of doubling down on its retail focus.
The expansion, which will stretch all the way to Eagle Road, is slated to include six buildings with over 100,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, according to plans the developer, CenterCal, filed with the city. That could include as many as 19 shops or restaurants, plans indicate.
Hugh Crawford, CenterCal’s vice president of property management, told the Idaho Statesman that the new development is “well underway,” and once complete would give The Village a “totally transformative entryway” from Eagle Road.
“You drive by, and it’s a full-blown 20-acre construction site right now,” said Crawford by phone.
He said construction started in November at the corner of Eagle and Longwing Lane, west of the existing shopping center, and that the warm winter has helped the work move along. By the end of the summer, he said, the buildings should be up.
At that point, the buildings would be turned over to tenants, who would then build out the interiors, he said.
Crawford said roughly 90% of the spaces have been leased so far. He anticipates that about a third of the stores would be ready to open before the 2026 holiday season, with more opening in early- to mid-2027.
What stores? Crawford declined to name any tenants but said space in the new buildings would be roughly split between fast- and full-service restaurants and “great retail, fashion and apparel.”
Permits filed with the city show interest from businesses, including:
- Alo Yoga, a Los Angeles-based yoga apparel store. This would be Alo’s first Idaho store.
- Vuori, an activewear brand inspired by the “Coastal California lifestyle.” Vuori doesn’t yet have any Idaho stores but is stocked in some Boise-area sporting goods stores, including Scheels.
- Kendra Scott, the Austin-based jewelry company by the designer of the same name. Kendra Scott has a store in Salt Lake City but none so far in the Gem State.
- Flower Child, a health food chain based in Phoenix, according to QSR Magazine.
Crawford said at least two of the buildings along Eagle Road would be standalone restaurants, and those would likely be phased in during 2027.
He also noted that the expansion would “flow” into the existing shopping center, but said the new buildings would have a slightly different architectural style.
“The concepts are all retailers and restaurants that we’ve had on our list for years, that now are ready to come into the market or expand in the market,” he said. They would “continue to make The Village of Meridian the destination that it has it’s already become,” he said.
