A Boise-area crash left one person dead on Monday evening.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 56-year-old George Simitzes, of Star, according to a Tuesday morning news release.

Simitzes was driving his motorcycle in the eastbound lane of West State Street when he lost control at about 6:45 p.m. near North Knox Avenue in Star, according to an Ada County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Law enforcement said Simitzes veered into the opposite lane and hit a car driven by a 66-year-old woman, with three minors in it.

The motorcyclist died from his injuries at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office. Life-saving measures at the scene were unsuccessful, according to the coroner’s release.

The coroner listed Simitzes’ cause of death as traumatic blunt force injuries and the manner as accidental.

The occupants of the car were uninjured, the sheriff’s office said.

Detectives with the Ada County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating the accident.
