The Meridian Police Department cleared Mountain View High School on Friday after students were placed in hall check because of a bomb threat.

According to Kelsey Johnston, the Meridian police spokesperson, officers responded to the suspected threat at 11:25 a.m. and “performed a sweep” of the high school. By 12:07 p.m., officers determined the threat was not credible.

West Ada School District spokesperson Greg Wilson told the Idaho Statesman that students were kept safely in “supervised, locked classrooms in hall check.”

Within an hour of arrival, Meridian police determined it was safe to resume classes.

Mountain View High School sent a message to parents requesting that students and staff return to class. The school said parents wishing to pick up their children can do so directly at the school site.

It was the second bomb threat of the week in the West Ada School District. Lake Hazel Middle School was evacuated Tuesday to a nearby elementary school. That threat was handled by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Boise Police and Idaho State Police.
