This is an update to an earlier story.

The Meridian Police Department on Thursday announced in a release that officers are investigating the death of a 65-year-old woman and her boyfriend as a possible murder-suicide, according to a press release.

Around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a welfare check in the 1200 block of Italy Street, where they found the woman. An investigation of an unattended death of a male by the Gem County Sheriff’s Office prompted the welfare check, police said. The man and woman were in a relationship.

The woman, who has not been identified, was found dead in her bed when officers forced entry into her Meridian home.

Police did not release any further information about what evidence led them to the conclusion of murder-suicide. The deceased man has not been identified.
