Joseph A. Klonowski, 21, died early Tuesday afternoon at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where he was taken after the crash.
The Ada County Coroner’s Office released his name and time of death Wednesday. But determining exactly why he died could take several weeks, according to the coroner.
“Outside testing will be necessary to assist in determining cause of death, and those results could take several weeks to receive,” Coroner Dotti Owens said in the Wednesday release. “This case is being investigated as accidental vs. natural, as according to reports, Joseph was seen to be slumped over the wheel prior to his vehicle leaving the road.”
Authorities say Klonowski was headed south on Idaho 16 when his pickup truck went off the road around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. It crashed into a pond near Chinden Boulevard.
