A Calwell woman died, and five others were sent to the hospital, after a crash involving a semi truck in Marsing Sunday evening, according to an Idaho State Police press release.
Maria Lopez, 26, of Caldwell was driving a 2002 Dodge Caravan north on Riverside Road and reportedly failed to stop when crossing Marsing Road around 4:45 p.m. She struck Cedric Esqueda, 43, of Sanger, California, who was driving west in a 2015 Freightliner semi with a trailer, according to the release.
Five people from Lopez vehicle, including one adult and four juveniles, were transported to the hospital. But, Lopez died at the scene, according to ISP.
Lopez, Esqueda and an adult passenger in Lopez’s vehicle were all wearing seatbelts. It’s unclear whether the juveniles were wearing seatbelts, according to the release.

Traffic was blocked off in the area for more than four hours as crews cleared the scene. The incident is still under investigation. The health status of the five people hospitalized is unknown at this time.
