Nampa woman walks into traffic, is hit, dies in Boise hospital
Carol Jean Barsby, 83, died from her injuries at about 11 a.m. Sunday at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.
According to the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, Barsby was hit by a passing motorist at about 4:45 a.m. while walking in the area of East Lewis Lane and Southside Boulevard, just south of Nampa. Barsby apparently lived nearby; the area has no street lights.
The caller said they came across Barsby walking in the roadway and stopped to help. But they weren’t able to keep her from wandering into traffic again.
Authorities say that caller was able to care for Barsby until paramedics arrived and took her to Saint Alphonsus.
Deputies say alcohol was not a factor in the accident and that they don’t expect the investigation to produce criminal charges.
