Canyon County paramedics to share space with Nampa Fire Department
One of the Canyon County Ambulance District’s eight staging sites will move into Nampa Fire’s Station 5 on Happy Valley Road, continuing efforts between both agencies to find ways they can help each other be more efficient.
The two agencies already share a medical control physician, common protocols and medical reporting standards in that area, and are moving to use the same supplies and equipment, according to a press release announcing the arrangement Friday.
“With the build out of Saint Alphonsus Health Plaza on Garrity, quick ambulance access to the north of the freeway as well as the Garrity interchange is necessary,” said Robb Hickey, paramedic chief. “And it helps address continued growth of the area surrounding the Ford Idaho Center and Vallivue’s Ridgevue High School that opens next fall.”
Both agencies plan to look for other ways to share space, funding and other resources in the future, Hickey added.
