No one injured, threatened in Nampa shooting incident

Nampa police took a man to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation late Sunday after he fired several shots in the air in a neighborhood off Lone Star Road.

A family member called police at 11:36 p.m. to report the man was firing his gun outside a home near the intersection of North Blue Stone Drive and West Lava Avenue, Sgt. Tim Riha said.

Officers found the man in the yard, shooting his gun. They calmed him down and got him to go with officers to the hospital.

“It was just a guy having a bad night,” Riha said. “We took him to the hospital to get him some help.”

No charges were filed against the man, who was not publicly identified.
