UPDATE: Head-on crash near Marsing reportedly kills adult and child

Fog may have been a factor in the crash that left an adult and child dead around 6:30 p.m. north of Marsing on Idaho 55, Idaho State Police report.

Jarom Empey, 21, of Mesa, Washington, was driving a 2004 Ford pickup truck north on 55 when he crossed the center line and crashed head-on with Stephanie Frazier, 28, of Marsing, driving a 2011 Kia Optima south.

Frazier had three passengers in her car, Christopher Frazier, 35, of Marsing and two minor children. Christopher Frazier and one of the children died due to injuries on the scene, according to ISP.

The driver of the truck also was injured and reportedly taken to a Canyon County hospital. The crash is under investigation.

One lane of that section of highway remained closed about 10 p.m. as work to clear the wreckage continued. The wreck happened in Canyon County between Apricot and Pear lanes about two miles north of the Owyhee County line.
