Canyon County Sheriff’s Office is looking for an inmate who reportedly escaped their jail in Caldwell Saturday night, according to a sheriff’s office press release.

Jose Esteban Coronado, was being held in the jail on charges of violating a no contact order, and reportedly escaped by cutting a hole into the wall of the minimum-security jail, according to the release.

Coronado doesn’t have family in the area, but authorities said he may be heading to his girlfriend’s residence in Nampa. He could also be heading toward Portland, according to the sheriff’s office.

Coronado is described as a Hispanic man, 6 feet tall, 220 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing the jail’s orange shirt and pants. The sheriff’s office sent out his mug shot to help the public identify him. But, they cautioned people to maintain extreme caution if they see him.

Coronado has reportedly told law enforcement he would “shoot it out” with them if approached, according to the release.

Anyone who sees Coronado is urged to call their local law enforcement agency or Canyon County Sheriff’s Office at 208-454-7531.
