UPDATE: Traffic lights fixed at busy Nampa intersection of Garrity/Franklin/11th
It should now be smooth sailing for drivers using the three-way intersection at Garrity Boulevard, 11th Avenue North and North Franklin Boulevard, a Nampa spokeswoman said about 8:10 p.m.
Power has been restored to the traffic lights at the intersection, including the pedestrian crossing signals, the spokeswoman said.
Nampa police had been asking drivers to avoid the three-way intersection, a heavily trafficked route into and out of Nampa via the Interstate 84 Franklin Road interchange, since a semi struck a power box in the area Tuesday afternoon. That left only stop signs to control traffic at the busy intersection.
A repairman — not a city employee — had to fly in from California, according to a city spokeswoman. As of 4 p.m. Wednesday he was trying to figure out how to make the older control box work with newer technology.
