Nampa man hit, killed on I-84 while picking up debris that fell from his pickup
Guy Isaac, 57, died at the scene after he was struck by a 36-year-old Caldwell woman trying to avoid hitting cars that were slowing because of the debris, Idaho State Police report.
The chain of events started about 9:40 a.m. Wednesday when items fell out of Isaac's eastbound pickup truck at Interstate 84 milepost 28 in Caldwell, according to an ISP news release. Isaac pulled over to the right shoulder and began picking up the items, and traffic backed up in both eastbound lanes to avoid the debris, ISP reports.
Heather Lott was driving in the left eastbound lane when traffic in front of her braked and she steered into the right lane and then the shoulder, where her Ford Edge hit Isaac, ISP reports.
Lott was wearing her seat belt and was not reported as injured. The right eastbound lane and nearby on-ramp were blocked for about two and a half hours while crews worked to clear the scene, ISP reports.
The crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police.
