Injury crash blocks I-84 traffic throughout rush hour Tuesday

Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash that closed a section of eastbound Interstate 84 for several hours Tuesday afternoon and evening, Idaho State Police report.

The crash was reported about 4 p.m. near the Franklin Road exit in Nampa.

Lisa Zuniga, 28, of Nampa, was driving east in a Suzuki Forenza when she failed to yield for slowing traffic and hit the rear of a Ford pickup driven by Wayne Steward, 74, of San Antonio, Texas, ISP reports. Zuniga's car then hit a Dodge Neon driven by Jonathan Rood, 29, of Boise. Occupants of all three vehicles were wearing a seat belts, ISP reports.

Zuniga was taken by ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Steward's passenger, Joan Steward, 52, of San Antonio, was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Medical Center in Nampa, ISP reports.

That section of I-84 was blocked for about three hours while crews worked to clear the scene, ISP reports.
