Caldwell apartment fire displaces three families. The cause is not yet known.

Fire crews responded to an apartment fire in Caldwell that damaged three units and displaced three families Saturday.

At about 12:20 p.m., the Caldwell Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the apartment on Parkview Lane, according to a news release from the agency. Fire crews from Nampa and Middleton, along with two truck companies and two battalion chiefs, assisted in the response.

The fire started in the third-floor apartment and spread to the attic, which affected adjoining units, the release stated. Fire crews were able to clear surrounding apartments and confined the fire within 20 minutes.

Two units on the third floor and one unit on the second floor were damaged. Caldwell Fire Local 1821 is assisting the displaced families, according to the release.

One person had a medical emergency and was taken to a hospital.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and the fire department will continue to investigate.
