Mayor of Middleton dies ‘peacefully ... surrounded by family,’ city says
The city of Middleton announced the death of its mayor on Thursday afternoon.
In a press release, a spokesperson for the city said Jackie Hutchison died earlier in the day “peacefully at her residence and surrounded by family.” She was 74.
“Mayor Hutchison served the City of Middleton with dedication and an unwavering commitment to public service,” the release stated. “Her leadership and vision have left a lasting and meaningful impact on the community.”
Hutchison was elected in 2023 and was serving her first term, which would have expired in December 2027, according to the city’s website.
Middleton City Hall and the Middleton Police Department lobby will be closed Friday in recognition of her “life and service,” the police department said in a Facebook post.
Hutchison served as mayor with “genuine care and a deep commitment” to the community, according to the post.
“Her support of public safety and her dedication to the residents of Middleton made a lasting impact on our department and the city as a whole. She will be greatly missed,” the post read.
Details regarding a memorial to honor the mayor will be released in the coming days, and the city asks anyone wishing to send flowers or cards to address them to “Hutchison Family” and mail them to City Hall: 1103 W. Main Street, Middleton, 83644.
