Fire at Nampa Municipal Airport causes ‘significant damage’ to two hangars

A fire broke out at the Nampa Municipal Airport on Friday morning, causing “significant damage” to a pair of hangars.

At about 7:45 a.m., airport staff reported hearing popping and seeing smoke coming from a building on the northwest side of the airport, according to a city of Nampa news release.

Nampa Fire District dispatched five engines and one ladder truck to the scene and the fire was contained by 8:18 a.m., the release stated. The fire damaged two hangars located at the east end of the building.

The cause of the fire is not known and is still under investigation, according to the release. No injuries were reported.

The city said hangar leaseholders in the building are being contacted about the damage by the Nampa Municipal Airport.

“Thank you to the airport staff who immediately reported the incident and to the Nampa Fire District for their timely response,” Nampa Mayor Rick Hogaboam said in the release. “Their swift and effective action in addressing the fire incident this morning is to be commended and likely minimized further property damage.”
