Update: As of 5:40 p.m. Friday, Main Street, where it intersects with the railroad tracks, is the only area still closed, according to a spokesperson from the Caldwell Police Department. It is expected that area will be closed for repairs through the end of the weekend.

Drivers in downtown Caldwell should take alternate routes after a train derailment caused blockage of the intersection of Main Street and 4th Avenue on Friday afternoon.

Wheels came off one of the train’s cars Friday, leaving it stuck in the busy intersection, according to a Facebook post by the Caldwell Police Department.

The Friday afternoon post stated that the intersection likely would be blocked for “several hours.” The post did not report any injuries.
