Juvenile dies after being struck by a vehicle on Karcher Road near Caldwell
A juvenile died Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle near Caldwell, according to an Idaho State Police spokesperson.
A 20-year-old Wilder man was driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty westbound at around 11:50 p.m. on Karcher Road in Canyon County when the juvenile, who was running southbound on Indiana Avenue, “crossed into the lane of travel” at the intersection and was struck by the jeep, according to a news release from ISP.
The release did not indicate the pedestrian’s condition, but Idaho State Police spokesperson Aaron Snell told the Idaho Statesman by phone that the minor died. Snell didn’t know whether the victim died at the scene or at a nearby hospital, or know their age or gender.
Snell said he didn’t believe anyone else, including the driver, was injured.
The accident blocked traffic for about three hours, according to the release. The incident is under investigation by police.
