Firefighters battled a multihome fire in Caldwell that sent two men to the hospital, according to the city.

The fire began on the 2600 block of Red Robin Way near the intersection of Chicago Street and 21st Avenue at about 2:30 p.m. Friday, according to a Caldwell Fire Department Facebook post and a news release from the city.

Two men went to the hospital, one with smoke inhalation and the other with minor burns, according to the release. Three pets died.

One house was seriously damaged and another received “minor” exterior damage, the city said. A vehicle was damaged as well.

Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control in about 15 minutes, the city said. It appeared to be accidental, officials said, but the cause was under investigation.

Nampa and Middleton firefighters also responded, Caldwell spokesperson Char Jackson told the Idaho Statesman by phone.
