Two separate vehicle crashes near Parma in Canyon County left two people dead and three hospitalized on Saturday, Idaho State Police reported in news releases.

A 57-year-old man from Nyssa, Oregon, was driving a Ford Mustang east on U.S. 20 with a 94-year-old male passenger, also from Nyssa, when the driver failed to yield at a stop sign about 1:54 p.m., police said.

The Mustang collided with a Ford pickup driven by a 20-year-old woman from Weiser heading south on U.S. 95.

The two Oregon men died at the scene, police reported. The woman was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.

Police also responded to a two-vehicle injury crash later Saturday north of Parma, where a 63-year-old Parma man driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup was heading east on Klahr Road. Police said he stopped at a stop sign before attempting to cross U.S. 95. As he crossed, his truck was hit by a Honda Accord driven by a 22-year-old Nampa man heading north. Another 22-year-old Nampa man was a passenger.

Both people in the Honda were taken to a local hospital by air ambulance.

Police closed highway lanes for about three hours after the first crash and over an hour after the second.
