Nampa special education teacher arrested, charged with two felony sex crimes
A teacher in the Nampa School District has been arrested and placed on leave, the district said in a news release Monday.
Jefferson Davis was charged with two felonies on Nov. 10, according to online jail and court records: forcible penetration by use of a foreign object and video voyeurism. Nampa police spokesperson Carmen Boeger told the Idaho Statesman that the victim was an adult and not a student.
Davis worked as a special education teacher at West Middle School since 2014, according to the district’s news release. He has been placed on leave and has not been in the classroom since Oct. 21, the district said, and the arrest did not happen on school property.
The forcible penetration charge alleged that the victim was unable to resist because of an intoxicating, narcotic or anesthetic substance, with the date of the alleged crime listed as July 1, 2021. The second charge is one count for video voyeurism by installing The video voyeurism charge alleged installation of a camera without the victim’s knowledge or consent for the purpose of sexual gratification, degradation or abuse, with Sept. 23 the date of the alleged incident.
A pretrial bond was set at $1 million, according to court records. Davis remained in the Canyon County Jail as of Monday afternoon.
The school district said it is cooperating with law enforcement and “will continue to review this personnel issue.”
Davis is scheduled for arraignment on Dec. 7 at the Canyon County Courthouse.
Canyon County officials did not immediately respond to requests for more information or comment.
