Idaho man dead, Nampa woman hospitalized after head-on crash in Caldwell
A Canyon County car crash killed a Caldwell man Wednesday morning and sent a Nampa woman to the hospital.
The man, identified as 23-year-old Jesus Gutierrez, was driving north on Idaho 55 in Caldwell, according to a press release from the Idaho State Police. Marci Morrison, 43, was driving south.
Just after 10 a.m., Gutierrez’s Hyundai crossed the center line of the highway, hitting the front of Morrison’s Jeep, ISP said.
Gutierrez was not wearing a seat belt, according to the release, and he died at the scene. Morrison was taken in an ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Her condition was not known Wednesday afternoon.
The crash blocked both northbound and southbound lanes on the highway for two and a half hours, the release said.
ISP was still investigating as of Wednesday afternoon.
