Employees at a Caldwell business were evacuated Wednesday morning due to a threat from an armed man, according to an emergency dispatcher in Canyon County. The standoff ended at about 6 p.m. when the man was taken into custody.
The armed man was an employee, Canyon County spokesman Joe Decker told the Idaho Statesman.
The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office and the Caldwell Police Department, “worked together to bring this to a peaceful resolution,” Decker said.
The incident began at about 8:30 a.m. at Forterra Specialty & Structural Products at 20059 Simplot Blvd. There have been no injuries. “They’re at a standstill,” an emergency dispatcher said.

Co-workers said they noticed the man “acting irrationally” and that he was carrying a weapon, leading to the initial report, Decker said.
