The 19-year-old apparently was involved in a single-vehicle crash at about 3 a.m. near where Ustick and Midland roads cross, east of Caldwell, according to the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicle ended up off the road, and no one found it until daylight. First-responders were called to the scene at about 8:30 a.m. They found the man dead when they arrived.
The man’s name is not yet being released while authorities work to notify his family.
The initial investigation by the sheriff’s office suggests speed and alcohol might have been factors in the crash.
This isn’t the first early morning crash in recent weeks to later be discovered in such circumstances. Dec. 7, for example, a Caldwell man went off the road while driving along a curve on U.S. 95 near Fruitland. Idaho State Police believe the crash happened sometime after midnight; the man’s body wasn’t found until about 9:25 a.m.
