Multiple search organizations are looking for a hiker in the Sawtooth Wilderness Recreation Area who has been missing for about 5 days, according to an Elmore County Sheriff’s Office press release.
The hiker entered the Sawtooths via the Queens River trail head close to Atlanta, but did not return as planned. The last location of the hiker was recorded via the hiker’s satellite beacon on June 15, according to the release.
The sheriff’s office, Elmore County Search and Rescue , Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue, Blaine County Search and Rescue and two Idaho National Guard UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters are searching for the hiker. Boise County search teams including search dogs and a helicopter with infrared capabilities, provided by Two Bear Air, are also assisting on the search, according to the release.
The identity of the hiker has yet to be released.
