Sleepy driver hits power pole near Horseshoe Bend, 2 hurt
Idaho State Police are investigating a Friday morning crash that injured two people just north of Horseshoe Bend on Idaho 55.
The young female behind the wheel was driving south about 8:30 a.m. when she fell asleep, drove off the road and hit a power pole.
The driver and her passenger were both taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Their names and conditions were not available Friday night.
ISP reports that a log truck driver, Bernard Thomas of Boise, tried to prevent the crash by trying to getting the driver's attention, then stopped to render aid.
The crash caused a power outage in the area.
